Oktoberfest: when Repentigny feels like Munich

My birthday being at the end of September, I have always dreamed of celebrating the Oktoberfest in Munich, one of my favorite European cities! Having already other projects this year, I will benefit from the experience a little ahead of time from September 7th to 9th, during the Oktoberfest of Repentigny!

For more than 10 years now, this must-attend Lanaudière event celebrating the best microbreweries in Quebec has delighted festival-goers, commonly known as Oktoberfestifs. If you’ve never been to Oktoberfest before, you’ll find a full program of humor and music shows, impressive quantities of microbrewery casks from here and abroad, a huge variety of foodtrucks to fill all your cravings and especially festive people celebrating with their favorite drinks.

Beers and food extravaganza for Oktoberfestifs

Whether you are more blonde, red, black, sour, fruity or strong, you’ll surely find your match among more than thirty microbreweries on site. Brouhaha, Dunham, Trou du Diable, Les Trois Mousquetaires, Pit Caribou are just some of the micros present at the 2018 Oktoberfest of Repentigny. In addition to tastings, you’ll also have the opportunity to participate in workshops and conferences to perfect your brewing knowledge. Among other things, you’ll be able to learn more about new trends and demystify the origins of THE beer of the hour: the IPA. The workshops all offer a tasting session that matches the speakers teachings for only 5$. You can also simply attend and increase your knowledge absolutely free. The organizers also thought about moms and designated drivers who still want to enjoy the event by also offering non-alcoholic beer. We strongly recommend you to try the one from Gourmandise Allemande!

In terms of food, you’ll be spoiled with more than 25 foodtrucks on site. Duck Truck, Frites Alors, Jerry and Mr Puffs are just some of our recommendations. With more than 400 beers to discover, you’ll be able to make yourself a perfect food and beers pairing for a festive tasting worthy of the biggest German event of its kind.

From laughter to cask, here it is!

On September 7 and 8, you’ll be able to attend two evenings of humor for a slight supplement with up-and-coming comedians and big names from the humor scene. We would highly recommend Friday’s show with the hilarious Arnaud Soly, Yannick De Martino and Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais, but unfortunately, it’s already sold out! So, be sure to book your ticket for Saturday night with Philippe Bond, Derrick Frenette and Julien Dionne, the pearl of New Brunswick. To discover!

Oktogames are back, stronger than ever!

Are you looking for a little adrenaline between two glasses of IPA? Oktogames are for you. Open to everyone, even under 18, the Oktogames events are friendly and the fierce competitions required dexterity, agility and physical strength. Are you ready for the test of the malt bag race or the classic tug of war?

If you want to participate in the events and become the Champion of the Oktogames, registration can be done on site, so do it as soon as possible to ensure you a place in the competition, whether you’re alone or in a team!

The event you don’t want to miss

Tickets for the Oktoberfest in Repentigny are on sale on the event website as well as in several Repentigny outlets and surrounding areas. You’ll be able to buy one or three day tickets with a choice of glasses between only 15$ and 35$!  Much cheaper than a ticket to Munich while having the chance to discover new local flavors, right? If you have an eco-friendly spirit, you can also bring your own glass, by paying the cheapest price to avoid using a plastic container. The organization is also taking a green turn by banishing plastic straws from the site! A great initiative for which we proudly raise our Bavarian hat!

Fröhliches Oktoberfest!
